![]() ![]() Unfortunately, once I see a movie or TV show that is a remake of a book, I find it hard to read the book without already having a certain perception of the characters and story. I continued my research and finished the whole series within the month. (Note, I want to know spoilers of what will happen - not the whole ending - as I still want to feel suspense). I finished the first season in a week and was hooked - who was "A" and when would we find out? Since I'm practically a "read-the-last-page-of-a-book kinda guy," I immediately searched for spoilers all over the internet which is when I learned it was actually based off of series of books. ![]() I love suspense, intrigue and drama when I read or watch a movie or TV. I had seen several commercials and thought that despite it sounding like it was more for a young adult crowd, I would give it a chance. A few things to say on how I chose this book before I get into a review of it:Įarlier this year, I found myself with some free time and an interest in watching Pretty Little Liars. 3 stars to Sara Shepard's The Perfectionists. ![]() ![]() ![]() Her father is still in London, but has broken up with his girlfriend. In Forever Rose, the youngest Casson child again takes the role of narrator. ![]() As a reader, one has a distinct impression of who these characters are, with a fair amount of freedom to determine what one thinks they look like. What McKay does well in all her books is to convey the essence of the characters, even as their physical descriptions are left rather sketchy. And then I read Permanent Rose and Caddy Ever After as well. Nevertheless, I scooped up Indigo's Star as soon as it came out, and I found that I adored it with a big, big love. I enjoyed Saffy's Angel, the first book, but not nearly as much as several friends who'd recommended it seemed to like it. Hilary McKay (last name rhymes with "McFly", by the way) is brilliant at capturing what feels like an authentic child's voice. A few weeks back, I unearthed it, and last night I stayed up way late to finish reading this, the last book in the Casson family series. KellyrfinemanI bought this book when it first came out, started it soon after, then lost it in the bin on the floor by my bed. ![]() ![]() ![]() But all this comes at a cost, it’s draining and somewhere along the line, he lost sight of himself, his needs and happiness. I loved Slide… and Bullet even at a novella length is just as powerful, her writing style is easy and flows… the characterisations of both Sonny and Levi, excellent! The seduction of not only Levi but me as a reader was potent… What a fabulous novella and one I highly recommend! This book only emphasises what a great new author Garrett Leigh is turning out to be… and, this is the only book I have read where the much anticipated sex scene literally brought me to tears. ![]() ![]() ![]() The magical elements also really worked well in this story. Along these same lines, the action scenes were written clearly, too, and the tension was also consistently on-point, keeping me on edge until the characters were out of danger. A lot of the settings were described very well, so I was able to see them clearly. Overall, it was well done.Īnother thing I felt was well done was Reis’s use of imagery (when she remembered to include it, that is). There was nothing weird or unhealthy about the relationship, either, which is always something I look for. Experiencing a crush through her point of view was incredibly relatable, and gave me some teen-girl-crush nostalgia. Abi, one of the main characters in this book, reminded me so much of myself when I was her age. What I liked most about it was the realism. ![]() Although it didn’t play a huge role in the story, it acted as my shining beacon in the darkness. ![]() By far my favorite part of it was the romance. I want to start off with the things I liked and felt were really working for this novel. I was actually considering giving it 3.5 stars, but enough issues piled up by the end that I couldn’t justify the half star. ![]() The best way I can describe this book is to say it was enjoyable.
